National Women Build Week
National Women Build Week brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing millions of women and children across the globe. Last year 375 Central Florida women volunteered 2,500 hours and raised more than $100,000 to fully fund a home for a family in need.
The Mother’s Day timeframe was selected for its significance to many volunteers, as families with children make up a staggering number of those in need of adequate housing. More than 12 million children—one in six—live in poverty housing in the United States alone. To date, Women Build crews have built more than 1,800 Habitat homes nationwide.
Thank you to all the teams, sponsors, committee members and those who made Women Build 2012 such a success. We raised over $130,000 to sponsor a home for a Central Florida family in need.
How can I participate in the 2013 National Women Build Week? Each participant must raise a minimum of $500 each in order to volunteer a shift during National Women Build Week, May 6-11, 2013. If you have questions please contact Lynn Ivanek at (407) 648-4567 ext. 404 or livanek@habitat-orlando.org.

Lowe's Women Build Training Clinics
In 2008, Lowe's sponsored the first "National Women Build Week" and still underwrites the overall Women Build Program. By 2013, Lowe's will have contributed nearly $40 million to Habitat for Humanity. Employees at Lowe’s stores also conduct how-to clinics for our women volunteers. These clinics teach new construction skills that our volunteers can use to help us eliminate poverty housing. Habitat Orlando has been a proud partner with our local Lowe's stores since we began our participation in National Women Build Week. Thanks Lowe's!
